Use SCANSTAR folders to organise your documents.
The folder structure can be created by using 'drag and drop' to bring in your existing Windows folders
simply use the 'auto-file' and auto-naming feature to let SCANSTAR automatically create your folders
and file your documents as you enter them. Getting your paper documents filed electronically can be done quickly using the
SCANSTAR ScanStation.
Scanstar can also watch network folders for incomming documents and automatically
upload them to a nominated folders without the need for human intervention. | |
| Document Indexing |

SCANSTAR allows you to index your documents using any number of custom index fields.
As an example Invoices could be stored with 'Invoice No', 'Supplier name' and 'Invoice Date'. This would enable you to
find any invoice instanty providing you know one of these items of information.
Indexes can also be used to control document filing and naming rules by using
the 'Auto-File' and 'Auto-Title' features. For example 'Timesheets' could be filed automatically in a project folder
and in subfolders by contractor, simply by completing two indexes when scanned.

| Search And Retreive |

SCANSTAR allows you to find documents fast. You can search for a document using a combination
of its basic properties (Title, Date, Description etc), the words contained in the document and/or the document indexes. Regular searches
can be saved and reused with one click. The results of a search can be displayed as a list or as thumbnails.
SCANSTAR will also highlight where the word(s) you searched for appear in the documents. | |

SCANSTAR uses a simple but powerful permissions model to control what happens to the documents under its control.
The security model is independent of Windows files system and is easier to manage and implement | |
| Audit Trail |

Any activity or actions performed on the documents in SCANSTAR are fully audited - the audit
captures the name of the user, the date and time and even the workstation the user was logged into. The type of actions that
are audited include document views, document updates, deletions - even the Category attribute values that are changed.

The check-out and check-in feature of SCANSTAR allows you to change document content in a controlled manner.
When a document's content is changed, a new version of the document is stored in SCANSTAR whilest the previous version(s) are retained.
Older versions can still be viewed if required or rolled back if changes need to be undone | |

Once your documents are in SCANSTAR, distributing and sharing them is fast and convenient.
One or more documents or even entire folders can be sent zipped or unzipped with a couple of mouse clicks. | |
| Printing |

When you are faced with printing several .PDF format documents, the SCANSTAR batch print feature
will save you time by printing all selected documents at once. This avoids opening each document in Adobe Reader and selecting File Print. | |
